Idea Lab
Skill Shares
Video Editing – Julia
Objectives:
- To practice generosity through collaborative making
- To generate a lot of ideas (good, bad, in-between)
- To make things (again, good, bad, in-between)
Description:
As makers we think with our hands as well as our minds. Culling the experiences of the entire class, this project is aimed at increasing material and digital literacy. You will prepare a 5 minute presentation on a specific skill of your choosing. The presentation should include a brief overview of the skill, a demonstration, and a workshop. You will provide the materials needed and develop a prompt for the rest of the class to respond to. Skill shares will be scattered throughout the semester. You will sign up for a slot by the
second week of classes. A skill could range from writing tanka poems, creating GIFs, a book binding technique, embroidery, a tool tutorial on Illustrator, etc. You do not need to be an expert at the skill, but should have a good enough understanding of it to create an effective presentation and demonstration.
